Are You Reaping The Rewards Of Your Homeschool?
The time has come once again to get out my favorite yarn, a good pair of circular needles and make the magic happen. One thing I love about knitting is that I can take something small and create something beautiful. That's a lot like homeschooling.
We often start off our days making small deposits in our children's lives and after some time, we reap the benefits of our work. The verse that comes to mind is Galatians 6:9, "And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up." It's the small things that add up, like putting a drop in the proverbial bucket, we find that soon the bucket is full to overflowing.
To reap the rewards of our homeschooling efforts, we must continue to invest in the lives of our children. By investing in these precious ones daily, in small but significant ways, the outcome of our toil (though the benefit may not be readily seen) eventually becomes a work of beauty.
Truly, we rarely know the impact we're making in the lives of our children. What may at this moment seem like a minor influence, may in turn become a guiding principle or driving force. As a young man, Simón Bolivar had an affinity for battles and adventure and one day became "The Liberator" of South America. The Wright Brothers' father first gave them a flying toy that sparked his boys' interest in harnessing the power of flight. And the studies of a young Elizabeth, equipped her to become one of England's greatest rulers. From these examples we learn this most valuable lesson, we must "walk by faith, not by sight." (2 Cor. 5:7 NKJV)
