Essential Advice
I'm learning that God has prepared me in advance with positive examples of homeschooling before I ever thought I'd be doing it. He's moved me from a frumpy long skirt mentality to embracing a vibrant living for the individuals that are my/His children.
This is not to say that we don't have hard days, mostly days that as a mom I feel I'm doing something wrong (wrong curriculum, too much, too little, etc.) challenges are bound to come whether you're in the throws of homeschooling your children or wrestling with issues related to sending your child to public school.
Trust is vital. When I first started my adventure into homeschooling I asked all my homeschooling friends about their experiences (How do I go about starting this process? What should we do? How do we proceed? What is needed?). While their advice was and still remains to this day important, I recognized that I need to hear from God about what direction I needed to take in homeschooling my little ones. I needed to trust that He already had direction for us if I would just listen. And as I did, He began to give me unexpected creativity. My children laughed and giggled as we ran around the room making disciples of every nation (the verse says, "GO!" after all).
Now let me say, I'm new at this and I expect the way I do things to change, but God's involvement cannot be one of them. He is the one that leads, provides the peace that I need and His direction is essential to our everyday rhythm.
