Homeschool: Where Learning Never Ends
Even though you may be finishing your curriculum for the school year or are already on your summer break, a homeschooler’s learning never ends.
Internally, you may be feeling pressure to finish all your lessons for the year. Remember, you don’t have to tie up your school year in a tidy, perfect bow. Even public school teachers seldom reach the end of their assigned textbooks (this is where you breathe a sigh of relief).
As homeschoolers, we teach towards mastery. One of the things I love most about homeschooling is that we have the opportunity to roll any missed content over to the next school year. I like having this option to start off the coming year with a known quantity, something familiar. Ultimately, I can make the decision to pursue this option or proceed to next year’s work. Still, I like having this opportunity. It’s one thing that makes homeschool so personal, so flexible and so individualized. You know your children. Maybe they need a little more review, maybe they need to be challenged with new ideas and because you homeschool, YOU get to decide.
So whether you’re reviewing, testing or heading into the next avenue of learning, remember learning is ongoing whether the school year ends or continues year round. We can offer our children a personalized learning experience that is ongoing and satisfying.
